Healthy Masculinity : Community Conversation : Darrell Pacini

Where do we learn about masculinity? Both boys and girls are taught from an early age what their family and society expects of the masculine and feminine.

We will explore the role of masculinity in the context of culture, religion, and a generation’s time in history. We will examine the relationship between class expectations, economics and social constructs. We will investigate the rituals of when, if and how we overtly teach boys to be men. We will unpack internalized rules of masculinity and through a personal journey of self-evaluation, we’ll determine what is healthy and what we want to change for ourselves, for our relationships with others and in our lives as a whole.

Archetypes : Eleanor O'Rourke

The journey to discover “who we are” implies that we are one person, but there are many facets to who we are. We all have a personality which we developed, but we also have archetypes, soul patterns which we come in with. Knowing these archetypes allows us to identify the way we want to express ourselves in the world and the fear patterns that will hold us back from this expression. Many of us have been influenced by our family or culture to adopt ways of being in the world. Though these habits can guarantee validation or security, they can’t guarantee creative expression and an experience of who we really are.
